Easy Steps To Making Spring Rolls
Homemade products are usually healthier than store bought ones. so also inthe case of homemade springrolls wrappers because you know what goes into it and it has no chemical preservative
The Spring Rolls wrappers:
You can use store-bought wrappers for your spring rolls or you can make them yourself. Sprinrolls seems to have found its way into the nigerian parties or owambes as we love calling it, even though springrolls are of the Asian origin, it can well be enjoyed by anybody who loves snacking. You can use any combinations of vegetables for your spring rolls filling.
The following quantities of ingredients will make a filling for 15 spring rolls.
- 50g cooked minced beef
- 1 spring onion
- 1 medium carrot
- 1 small green bell pepper
- Habanero (Scotch bonnet) pepper (to taste)
- freshly minced garlic
- 1 stock cube
- Vegetable oil
- A tablespoon soy sauce
For binding or sealing the spring rolls:
Mix together in a bowl;
- 1 tablespoon plain flour (all purpose flour)
- 2 tablespoons cold water
How to make spring rolls filling
Place the grated cabbage into a pot, add salt to taste,enough water to cover the cabbage and boil until the cabbage is tender.this takes roughly about 8-10 minutes
While cabbage is boiling, put a dry sauce pan on the heat, add a little veg oil, garlic,chopped onions, saute for a while then add the grated carrots. stir fry until carrots are tender. add the pepper, seasoning cube and salt to taste. keep stirring
Next, drain out the tender cabbage and pour into the carrot. Stir fry the mixture and add the cooked minced meat

Add a tablespoon of soy sauce, a tablespoon of sugar.
Lastly, add the spring onions. Stir, taste and allow simmering for the next 2 minutes. then it’s done. Put off the heat and leave to cool completely.
In a small bowl, add a tablespoon of flour and a little water as described above. Mix thoroughly and set aside. This would be used to bind the spring roll wrappers.
Spread out the spring rolls wrappers and add the filling at one edge of the wrapper. roll tightly together once or twice, at the middle ,stop to fold in the both opposite sides and continue rolling. Seal the other edge with the ”binder”.
Continue like that with the other spring rolls warappers until you have your rolls
Heat up the oil until very hot and fry the spring rolls until crusty and brown. Place a paper towel to drain out excess oil
